i have no snare in my headphones

Friday, June 6, 2008

At least once a day, I make sure to take the time to sit down and listen to a song with headphones on; and with complete focus. I don’t use the song to invoke thoughts about me or my life. I hone in on the song and all its beautiful details. I listen for things I’ve never heard before. I close my eyes and let it take me with it. So I decided to start posting a song once a week to share with you guys. Go grab your headphones. Close your eyes. And for four minutes or so, really listen.

This week, I bring you “This Woman’s Work” by Kate Bush. Enjoy!

SIDE NOTE: Do you guys think I should post more regularly on the blog? Like once a day rather than once a week? Let me know!

i do the same but not once a week. and… not exactly without any help. but yeah. those background noises in some of portugal’s stuff is amazing. i hear new sounds all the time that i’ve never heard before. beats, keyboard noises. i remember letting the high hat’s pitter patter make me visualize raindrops rippling on a shallow puddle of water and turned into colors. was a weird experience.

and to posting. i’d say not everyday. it’d build up better anticipation for when you actually do post. a few times a week maybe? well whatever you decide, i’ll wish you luck (?).

this song is used absolutely brilliantly in the Series finale of HbO’s “Extras” by Ricky Gervais. D’angelo also does a sick cover w/ a sweet vid check it

We love hearing from you. But I think what’s most important about posts is QUALITY over QUANTITY.

So, post whenever you feel you’ve got something interesting to say…which, as we all know, is most likely always. :-)

i love my bose ear buds. i always discover new stuff when i’m listening with them. and the breathing. i sometimes will listen to a song just concentrating
on the vocal intakes. the blog is always more active when you are posting so i say more is merrier :D

  8. Denise Says:

OH OH OH She’s Having A Baby. cookies for me.

  9. Travis Says:

Post more regularly, you write interesting shit!

  10. kevin Says:

i agree with the whole “you always have something interesting to say” comments

but id say maybe twice a week would be cool. too much and you run out of things to say.. plus it might become harder for you when you start touring again.

    awesome though..
